BLog by Steve C #10 - Does Sex Sell?

Hello again Fans of BLog by Steve C!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Mine was spectacular!  I got to spend time with my children and granddaughters.  That is always a treat.  What did you do?  Leave your comments below and let's share what we have to be thankful for!  Or you can just leave a note to say Hi!

So, two weeks ago I sent out a blog about Thanksgiving being the forgotten holiday, this time around, for me anyway, nothing was forgotten.  We had two days of Turkey, I have such a great wife!  We had our traditional Turkey, etc., on Thursday.  Which, by the way, would have also been my mother's 87th birthday.  She is missed daily.

Anyway, this is a blog about my insanely large collection of Procreate Brushes.  And I hope to not disappoint.  I did some work this week using a few brushes from the original Procreate brushes that come with Procreate.  I was in the mind to also do some Christmas marketing.  So, this first picture is my latest ingenious marketing tool.  Yep, they say sex sells, so I am going to see.   So sexy, yes?  For this picture, I used Procreate's  Studio Pen for the outlines and sketching of my female friend (actually a picture I found on the internet.  You won't believe the types of pictures you get when you Google pretty girls, on second thought, you may).  For the glasses, I have a Glasses Stamp that I used.  Went to check on the creator, none found.  Texture on the body suit is is from a Brush by Liquid Amethyst.  As were the Lights on the tree - Light Brush in her Christmas Lights Collection.  The border - Special Tinsel in Liquid Amethyst's Christmas Collection.

I tried something different for the background.  I haven't used "Half-Tones" in my work as I probably should.  So I tried out this "Big Dots" half-tone brush from Genevieve.  She has a great deal on freebie brushes and is a great source for Procreate Tips. I  put the Big Dots at about 50 percent, opacity at 100 percent.  I used it on my first layer behind everything else.  I wasn't sold on the look.  Sorry, next time I'll have a picture to show you.  So, I used more of Procreate's Magic Buttons - The Motion Blur.  Ah, what a look!  Straight Vertical Lines!  with spaces in between them.  Gorgeous, don't you think?  It really made the foreground pop!  I wanted to wrap things up with a border, (I originally was thinking Christmas Card). So, I dug into my obscenely large collection of Christmas brushes I found a delightful little brush by Liquid Amethyst - Fancy Tinsel 45!  Sparkly, bright, it becomes more luminescent when brushed over with same brush.   I loved using it and think it added to the overall picture by framing it in with added texture.  The red color was purposeful.  I wanted the frame to be a darker color to help in focusing the eye on the most important part of the young lady; her cleavage.  Which then force you to look at her face.  And this one, she has such a cute face, don't you think?

Anyway, we'll see if sex really sells.  I am betting it does - What do you say?  Are you here because you have the same curiosity of wanting to know - if indeed sex sells?  Or for some other reason?  Take this  UNSCIENTIFIC POLL and let me know!

That's it,  You can go away now if you want.  I'll be back in about a week.  Course I do start school this week again.  Teaching.  Ugh.  I do love my students, I am doing everything i can to give them the best of me.  That, however, is an entirely different conversation.

Oops, Just one more thing.  I am directing "Everybody Loves Opal" at Theatre Southwest in Houston.  We open New Year's Eve for TSW's New Year's Extravaganza!  I cordially invite you to attend this annual fundraising kick-off to the New Year!  And who doesn't need a laugh and good time after the year we've had!  Let us tickle your funny bone as we take back to the wild times of the early 1950s Television Sit-Coms with what the LA Times had to say in mind -  “Everybody Loves Opal” is essentially slapstick nonsense and doesn't mind going for the sight gags."  So come on out, enjoy a great evening of theatre, fabulous food, door prizes, plenty of adult beverages, and a ring in the New Year in with a smile on your face!!!!!

That's all!!!   Thanks for stopping by!  See you next time. Thank you for your patronage!  Love you guys!  You are the best!
