BLog 3 - My obsessively Large Procreate Brush Collection
Well folks, I am glad you are back for another addition of my Blog!
If you are here for the first time, welcome! I am Steve Carpentier. This is my blog, my space in the vast Universe where I like to ra… Hmph… Sigh… Eye’s rolling… SH…are… my obsession with my obscenely large collection of Procreate brushes. Every so often, I’m going to write about one of my thousands of brushes and how I used it to create my artwork that week or day, month, year. There you are you are all caught up. So, onward to this blogs brush from my obscenely large collection of Procreate brushes.
This time around I use an asphalt texture brush by Gal Shir. The link takes you to his page where you can see the brushes for yourself. He has some pretty cool textures.
The Color Palette I used was again - Forest Scenery

This one was cool. Right away I liked the texture as I made strokes up and down. The brush size at about 25%. After a few strokes of highlights and shadows, the picture reminded me of curtains. Like the ones I grew up with in my childhood home back in upstate New York. So I created a window. Through the window is the morning sun. Using the asphalt brush at 10%, I made two layers for the sun. I turned on Gaussian Blur to 5% to give those sun layers some sparkle. The brick walls came after some thought. I was really thinking that wanted to have curtains on the left side of the picture, but decided to go with the red brick wall. For me it gives the feeling of three-dimensions. As though you are looking out a window through another window into the outside world.
I will definitely use this brush again. Probably just to make more pieces with just it. Maybe try it with a face as the subject. The texture created is sharp, and allows for layers beneath it to come through. Here is the finished product. Let me know what you think in the comments.
